A domestic asset protection trust is one of the many kinds of asset protection trusts which are for the purpose of protecting one’s assets from third party claims. This type of trust can be abbreviated as DAPT and is otherwise known as a “self-settled spend thrift trust”.

In normal circumstances, a trust will have three different parties: a settlor, beneficiary and a trustee. A settlor places the assets into the asset protection trust, a beneficiary benefits from the assets in the trust and the trustee controls the trust in terms of adding or taking away assets from the trust. A domestic asset protection trust is unlike other types of trust as with it, the settlor, controller and beneficiary of the trust can often be one person-although this is usually not advised.

The laws as stipulated by the asset protection trust guard the actions of the trustee in terms of his/her management of the assets in the trust. The trustee’s actions will also be guarded by the instructions given by the settlor in relation to the assets in the trust.

The drawback with domestic asset protection trusts is that they have certain time limitations set on them before they can work to their full potential. These limitations are specific to each country (if at all applicable) and basically give creditors allowance into the assets of a person/business for a certain period of time after the domestic asset protection trust has been opened. Say, for example, the time limitation of countryX is five years. ManX creates a domestic asset protection trust and then files for bankruptcy two years later. Even though he has an asset protection trust, the government will still be able to dig into his trust and use the assets to pay his debts because the five years have not yet passed.

Pain is another symptom of Alzheimer’s disease. From the media issues I decided to take my national airline to Mozambique, a decision I felt proud of. On landing, what surprised me was the most functional airport, with some classical ‘Boeing’ different in airline names but stamped with the national flag, landing and departing as the clock ticked. This proved the media speculations ungrounded.

I noted five different Mozambican airlines, which meant that Mozambique had functional and proper airlines, although I needed a translation for the Portuguese names tagged since it is an official language from its former colony.  As I was waiting for a friend to pick me up I read one of the informative travel magazines which informed much on the airlines. The pioneering former colonial airline started in the 1936, the second one started in 1991, and the third one in 1995 and the recent one has about a year in the industry.  Each airline has its different destinations with kind informative airhostesses. All these classical flying machines gave me the zeal to visit the country’s second airport which also had its beauties and attractive airlines my eyes witnessed. 

At arrival my friend gave me another airline ticket to her town, one odd situation, I never thought of since she told me that it’s only a 120 km to where she stayed.  Commuting airlines are the order of the day in Mozambique due to the poor roads. I had the safest and quickest mode of transport I enjoyed. It offered the best shuttle services at an affordable price I can not easily forget, when Mozambican airlines are mentioned. With a clear catch of mind on the airlines I even took the Mozambican national airline back home.
